DRUMBOAT

„Drumboat“ is a 14-minute experimental music film, that explores rhythm as a language and societal form. The Crew of a flying drumset must find a way to deal with unknown intruders, raining from the sky. Hierarchies become negotiable, as the Crew starts to revolt. The question of which drum is being played at what time becomes crucial, and sets the ship into a new kind of motion.

To create a visual language that feels otherworldly and yet familiar, we shot the whole film with real actors in a real studio environment. Our Costume Designer Maex Höllenblau developed colored costumes as seen in these behind the scenes fotos. These colors were later turned into the films animation look in post production.

The costume became an integral part of the films performance as well, as can be seen at one of the films screenings at Hfg Crossmedia Night 2023.
